A private tour guide in Madrid with a global perspective

I was born and raised in Madrid, with family roots in the mountains of León, a background that shaped my deep connection to history, place, and storytelling.

However, before becoming an official tour guide in Madrid, my professional life took me far beyond Spain. For 11 years, I worked internationally in theatrical productions and costume design, touring across Europe and Asia as a wardrobe technician. During those years, I learned how travelers from different cultures engage with history in their own unique way.

Alongside this global experience, I developed a strong academic foundation in Art History and History. This allows me to add depth, context, and meaning to every private tour we explore together in Madrid, adapting each experience to an international audience.

“Outstanding! During our two month trip to Spain, Isabella lead both a food tour for us and a Prado Museum tour – and both tours were among highlights of our trip. Isabella is very knowledgeable about a wide range of topics, and is well-spoken, personable, charming, and enthusiastic. When she learned of our itinerary throughout Spain she offered valuable insights and guidance for several cities. The food tour in Madrid at the beginning of our trip was so helpful as we ate our way through Spain. She shared information not just about the food we were tasting but also how history, agriculture, culture, and economics shape that food and its future. During the Prado tour she navigated the huge space for us and perfectly highlighted famous works, but also outlined helpfully what we should see on our own after the tour. She speaks excellent English and is quick to respond via text or email. Our time with Isabella deepened our appreciation of Spain. We highly recommend Isabella!”

“I have gone to the Prado, El Escorial, and the Galeria de las Colecciones Reales with Isabella and they have ALL been amazing! She is knowledgeable, interesting, and full of fun facts. She also speaks AMAZING English!”

Robin Hunsucker

“Isabel has shown us another way to discover the Prado Museum, specifically its permanent collection. We visited with her galleries and paintings that are well known and others less so, all of them always approached through a different, engaging, and accessible perspective, without ever sacrificing historical and artistic rigor. If anyone would like to visit the Prado Museum with “different” eyes, Isabel will surely be delighted to accompany them.”

Esther Santamaría Ibañez

“Isabella was prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable! She was willing to answer many questions and used our questions to inform our tours! We highly recommend her!”

Katie Graham

“Great! I lived in the capital for ten years, and although when I travel I usually like to explore on my own, I absolutely loved discovering a little piece of the city with Isabella. She offered us a different perspective on the city—its streets, how people lived their day-to-day lives… and that’s something I really appreciate, because it’s not the kind of information you’d typically find in a guidebook. It’s clear that she knows the city well (she’s from Madrid) and is passionate about it and about sharing its stories. She’s very natural, as if she were telling them to friends who have come to visit, yet without losing any rigor. I now see the streets of Madrid with different eyes.
I can’t recommend her highly enough!”

Raquel Spinola

“A wonderful guide. We learned a lot and had great fun. She also showed us a different way of looking at the lesser-visited paintings of the Prado Museum.”

Andrés García Aguilar

“Isabel is highly professional and conveys great passion for her work. We booked a guided tour with her at the Prado Museum focused on Goya, and the experience was wonderful—everyone who attended was delighted. Everything was perfectly organized; she had prepared the visit in great detail and managed to convey in-depth knowledge of the subject in a rigorous yet engaging way. Without a doubt, she comes highly recommended.”

“A wonderful experience! Isabel has the gift of making the tour enjoyable while being packed with content. It’s fantastic to experience history in its original setting and learn little-known details. She also uses live resources to support and enrich the tour, making it even more accessible. You can really see the dedication behind the planning of her routes. We will definitely do it again—100% recommended.”

Irene Alvarez Freire

“We spent two consecutive days with Isabel, doing three different routes around Madrid, and we loved it. We learned a lot, discovered small hidden corners and very interesting anecdotes, all delivered with good humor and a smile. In short, discovering Madrid with Isabella Trébede is highly recommended.”
